Materials

  • Yellow construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Marker
  • Assorted buttons
  • Small bowl or container for the buttons

Instructions

  1. Make the Shirts: Cut several shirt shapes out of yellow construction paper.
  2. Add the Numbers: Write a different number on each shirt.
  3. Set Up the Activity: Place all of the numbered shirts in front of the child. Put the buttons where they can easily reach them.
  4. Start Counting: Have the child choose a shirt and identify the number written on it. Ask them how many buttons Pete needs for that shirt.
  5. Add the Buttons: Kids count out the correct number of buttons and place them on the shirt. Encourage them to touch and count each button one at a time to practice one-to-one correspondence.
