Make a sponge-painted spider web craft with kids using paper plates, string, and paint! A simple, fun Halloween activity perfect for toddlers and preschoolers.

Materials

  • Paper plate
  • Black yarn
  • Tape
  • Paint (black, orange, and purple)
  • Small sponge or sponge pieces
  • Paper plate or paint tray (for paint)

Instructions

  1. Tape one end of a piece of yarn to the back of a paper plate.
  2. Wrap the yarn around the plate in different directions to create a spider web pattern. Secure the yarn on the back with tape as needed.
  3. Dip a sponge lightly into black, orange, and purple paint. Avoid using too much paint on the sponge.
  4. Gently stamp the sponge onto the front of the plate, covering the entire surface with colorful prints. Don’t press too hard, or the paint may bleed under the yarn.
  5. Allow the paint to dry completely.
  6. Carefully remove the yarn from the plate to reveal the white spider web design underneath.
