What You’ll Need For This Pumpkin Playdough Tray

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • Orange food coloring

How To Make This Pumpkin Playdough Tray

First, make the playdough:

1. Mix the flour, salt, and cream of tartar together in a large bowl.

2. Add the vegetable oil and boiling water. Stir until the mixture is combined.

3. Add the pumpkin pie spice and orange food coloring.

4. Knead the mixture until the color is evenly blended and the playdough becomes smooth and soft.

5. Allow the playdough to cool completely before inviting children to play.

    Then, set up the playdough tray:

    1. Place the pumpkin playdough in the center of a tray.

    2. Arrange artificial fall leaves, acrylic fall pieces, and pumpkin seeds (can be dyed or natural) around the playdough.

    3. Add a pumpkin-shaped cookie cutter and a variety of playdough tools.

    4. Invite children to roll, flatten, cut, stamp, and shape the playdough.

    5. Encourage children to press the fall pieces and pumpkin seeds into the playdough.
